Adolescents and teens are faced with many pressures and challenges and often find it difficult to share their concerns with loved ones.  Having a safe place in which to talk about their changing emotions is important for  overall well-being and positive growth.

Young adults are transitioning from the security and structure of "home"and are now faced with trying to navigate their next steps in life, whether it be college, military, or full-time employment.  This can be a trying time for many young adults and talking with someone who can provide a safe place to express their concerns can help ease the stress related to the transition.

As women we have so many responsibilities that can often seem insurmountable. We struggle with the balance of taking care of others and practicing self-care for ourselves.  We are faced with many challenges and find it difficult to confide openly and honestly in those who care about us. Understanding how thoughts influence our feelings and behaviors contributes to the self-awareness required to cope with life's many obstacles.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

According to the American Psychological Association, with CBT a person can learn to identify problems more clearly, develop an awareness of automatic thoughts, challenge underlying assumptions that may be contributing to the problem, distinguish between facts and irrational thoughts, develop a more positive way of thinking and examine situations from a different perspective.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a highly researched therapeutic approach used to treat mental health disorders including: depression, anxiety disorders, phobias, PTSD, sleep disorders, eating disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder among others. My primary theoretical approach is highly focused on using cognitive behavioral therapy in addition to employing person-centered, expressive, and solution-focused techniques to meet individual client needs.
